Pattern of lines
Space, light and time play the leading role in All shadows that struck me in the Kröller-Müller Museum. Throughout one day, Jan Dibbets periodically marks the ever-shifting shadows in a room with masking tape. This creates a pattern of lines that makes the changes in the position of the sun visible.
The passing of time
Using very simple means, Dibbets visualizes a natural phenomenon, a process in time and space that is normally difficult to perceive due to the long duration. The work invites reflection on the passing of time.
Concept
This work was carried out for the first time in 1969 at Museum Haus Lange in Krefeld and subsequently acquired as a concept by the Kröller-Müller Museum. The idea is recorded in a certificate and can therefore be realized in different locations.
