Between Worlds

Past

The artists featured in Between Worlds contemplate life and death, the finiteness of human existence, what follows and what is left behind. You will see eleven works by Candice Lin, Matt Mullican and Kimio Tsuchiya, among others.

Mortality and rebirth

With Future Sarcophagus, a terracotta sarcophagus intended for her future dead body, Candice Lin attempts to look beyond her own mortality. Stephen Kaltenbach also relates to the passage of time. His Time Capsules with unknown contents may be opened at a time of his choosing, including after his death. In Birth to Death List, Matt Mullican evokes a fictional life by writing down a succession of important and insignificant moments. Finally, the partially burnt materials of Kimio Tsuchiya's Remembrance, visualise the possibility of rebirth.
